The Big Apple

The Big City, New York. Mom and I decided to take the opportunity of an APRN review course to go to the Big Apple. We arrived a day early and took a walk around a small section of the city. We ate lunch at Bubba Gump Shrimp (which was fantastic) then walked around a little in Times Square. That evening we both accomplished a task on our bucket list, seeing a broadway play. We saw "Wicked" and I must say it was wonderful!

The second day we spent most of it in class, and by night fall we were exhausted......... So we just hung out at the beautiful hotel The Affinia Manhatten.

Then on our last night in New York we got crazy and brave and decided to take a shot riding the subway downtown to see the 911 memorial. It took us about 20 minutes to walk down to the sub station, then about 20 minutes figuring out where to go (yes, mom just kept asking strangers directions) and I was certain we would be killed!!! After going the wrong way several times we finally got on the right train to the WTC. Although it gave me anxiety and panic getting down there it was so worth it.........

We were silent as we walked down the street toward the new WTC, a surreal feeling came over me. Almost immediately without thinking tears welled up in my eyes. How tragic and sad to see this place on one hand and on the other an honor to be able to see this memorial in person.

We had a great time, but as always glad to be back home, especially since the very next day a big northeastern blizzard paralyzed the city!

Hagan's 9th

Hagan's 9th birthday, look at how stinking cute he is!
He has really gotten into football the last few months, so how appropriate it was to have a football themed party.

Blessed to get to be this boy's momma!

Christmas Cookies...

We worried we would not find time to bake our famous Christmas cookies... but we did! We baked them after we were done having our Christmas dinner
Granny Kim getting the dough ready
Aunt Crystal distributing the flour

Then everyone grabs their cookie-cutters and  the fun begins
