I haven't been able to up load any new photos for two weeks, our laptop has become ill and is currently getting fixed. Our old dinosaur of a computer will not let me upload pics for some strange reason. Here is a quick view of things round here; kids are back in school (Hunter 9th, Harrison 3rd, Hagan K, and Haven is going part time to her new preschool. I'm teaching part time at EKU in the nursing department and working full time at SJH, Brian is still working at the VA in Somerset and is anxiously waiting to here about grad school in the spring. I forgot to mention I have applied for graduate school also for the spring. We are trying to save money and pay off a few extra bills before we proceed with our adoption, But we ARE STILL GOING. The weeks are full of activities; Church, cub scouts, football, soccer, basketball, music lessons, homework, you name it we do it. Sometimes I find it hard to believe how fast the time goes by, I find myself saying "enjoy every minute of it, for it won't be like this for long" more and more. Just when I feel like throwing in the towel and calling it quits, I get a quick glance of what my life would be like without it and I find the encouragement to go on. What else would I do with my time if I wasn't a Mom and Wife??? Sounds pretty boring if you ask me. Well I gotta go I have to take the little one to the dentist. Enjoy your day!!! ~Jennifer~

Nuts in a Can
Most everyone knows by now that I carpool with my family each weekend to and from work. We live in Somerset and work in Lexington, which is a 84 mile drive. We all work over the weekend so riding together just works for us. When gas jumped up over 3 years ago, I decided to get buy a commuter car to save on expenses. We bought a little Toyota Yaris, although it's small it is a four door and sits 5. That's 2 adults, and 3 children. I commute with 4 adults. Does everyone see the dilemma? We have grown fond of our rides, we get to talk and share how our days were, we get to eat together, and the 3 in the back even get to spoon with each other on the drive. Momma Brumley has a nice trunk on her with lots of junk, so she always gets to sit up front. We all take turns driving to and from so the combination of rear passengers consists of Greg, Angelica, Alison, and myself. Though we try not to complain too much we have come up with some terms that help us express our discomfort at times. For example; Alison created the "Jack-in-the-box", which means that her legs are killing her and are cramped up, and if she doesn't get them stretched out soon she is going to jump right out of the car. Alison also is called the "Drive thru specialist" because any drive thru order we place better be right or she will fly off her rocker, insist on going back through to inform the window person how bad they messed up, and when all else fails she will demand a refund. Alison is also known as "the happy honker" due to the fact she has been known to honk the horn the entire way home if she feels the urge. Greg provided us with "Nuts in a Can" which is going to be the name of our reality show in which we record every car ride to and from work. This should be a huge hit! Greg is nicknamed "Sleepy Bear" because although he drives us home usually 2 nights, he is unable to stay awake in the morning long enough to transfer from his car to ours, thus he is prohibited to drive us to work EVER. Angelica is not only our "storm tracker" (she keeps Bill Meck on speed dial) and also has had a huge hit with the "pull over potty" where she can't hold it anymore and we have to pull over and let her pee on the side of the road. Mom is "Super Human" due to the fact she can work 30 days in a row, and still manage to drive us each morning. Mom has also been referred to as the "neck jerker" because when she doesn't drive she sits in the passenger seat sleeping in an upright position (no one can recline the front seat in the Yaris without killing the 3 in the back) this allows her to snore and jerk her neck in every direction while still managing to catch some shut-eye. This would allow time to reflect on myself, and although the others have their own opinion of me and my quarks, I am the "speed demon" due to my number of speeding violations, and the fact I have been pulled over in every county, and by every version of law enforcement except fish and wildlife. I also can be named "mouth" because I probably do the most amount of talking in the car. I don't like the drive to and from work, but I love the people I ride with, even if we do have to sit in each others laps.

The House That Love Built
Many of our friends and family know that my parents have been trying to build their dream home for over 20 years. If you know that then you probably know how many obstacles they have had to overcome. If I had to describe our family in one word it would be LARGE. I think that word is perfect for us. Dad and Mom love each other (Large), they have 8 children & so far have 12 Grandchildren so that makes our family (Large), they have been happily married for 35 years so they have spent a (Large) amount of time together. Having that many kids means they spend a (Large) amount of money. With that many in one house they use a (Large) amount of everything from gallons of milk, and tea to rolls and rolls of toilet paper. To keep the house tidy mom has spent a (Large) amount of time doing laundry, cooking, & cleaning. Dad has, and still does spend a (Large) amount of time laying in bed at night worrying about money and how he will provide for his family. When we travel together it takes a (Large) amount of Patience's, time, and will to survive the trips. Dad and Mom have always told us to live and live (Large), from pursuing our dreams to overcoming any obstacles in our way. I think the best thing about our family is how (Large) we do things. We laugh, fight, and love (Large). So with all this talk about how LARGE our family is, their dream house better be Large, right? So here is the second addition to their dream house, by the way, the family has all helped in building. So now the Brumley's build LARGE. This is no doubt the house that LOVE built........... P.S. Dad and Mom, don't look at how far we have to go, just look at how far we've come! -Jennifer-

Summer afternoon trips with the Merrick's
Brian and I love history, and I would say he loves nature (me not so much). On top of that we love taking our children to see lots of different things, especially during their summer break from school. It gets even better if what we go do and see is FREE. This summer we have already been to the Mill at Mill Springs battle field, and Wolfe Creek Damn, which are both only 30-40 minutes from our house. Harrison is at the perfect age to visit these areas, because hopefully he will have some memory of going, but also because he loves history, nature, and learning about new things so much right now. I hope he always keeps such curiosity. Hagan enjoys it too, but he is only 5 so I hope he can remember these special trips we go on. Hagan is very quick witted and some of the things he says are so funny. Haven loves going to new places, jut so she has a variety of stuff to destroy.... I'm sorry if that sounds bad, but it's the truth. Haven is a handful no matter where we are. I love her so much, otherwise I would choke her to death in front of Jesus some days! Ha, ha. Now if you're wondering about Hunter well he has spent the last two weeks away from home. Hunter was at his grandparents in Owen County last week, and he went on his first ever trip with his twin best friends Lincoln and Landon, they went to Myrtle Beach. I missed that boy so much, but he did make it home in time to go to the damn with us. Hunter loves the outdoors, anything he can do like fish or hunt makes his face just lights up. Now I can't forget to mention my wonderful better half, cause he is actually the one that comes up with most of our adventitious ideas. Brian is always trying to find something for us to do with the kids, and I must admit that at times I'm tired and I don't really feel like going and doing anything, but if he didn't push me along I would miss out on soooo much. Thanks Brian I love you!!!!
